I don’t have many problems with Monty. He’s a good boy. A little gentleman most of the time. If he’s not eating, he’s sleeping or patrolling the perimeter wall on the lookout for trespassing cats and birds. From time to time however, he gets bored. Very bored. When he’s bored he’s a nuisance. He steals my socks, barks at nothing in particular, digs holes in my lawn and generally causes mayhem. He’s like a little one dog army rampaging through my house.
Thankfully theres some clever pet product companies out there that come up with rather nifty ideas to combat doggie boredom. One of those companies is Premier and they’ve come up with a fantastic set of toys called Busy Buddy Linkables.
Busy Buddy Linkables is a treat dispensing interactive dog toy. Linkables come in three separate sections or ‘links’ and offers a progressive way of challenging your dog. When your dog gets the hang of getting the treats out of the first link, you then add another link and so on.
You buy the three links separately. Theres a blue Orb a red Elbow and a green Twist. The links are beautifully designed to fit together easily. You don’t have to buy them all of course. The blue Orb is the easiest level and Monty had a huge amount of fun with just that one before he progressed to two then three links.
They work pretty much along the same lines as a Kong. You put some treats inside the toys and stand back to watch the fun. Your dog will pick it up, drop it, turn it over, paw it, run around in circles with it….I’m sure you get the picture….until the toy gives up a tasty treat. Then the fun starts all over again!
I think I got just as much enjoyment out of Monty’s Linkables as he did. Just watching him play with them was a treat for me!
Hmmm…is anything Labrador proof? All I can say is Monty hasn’t attempted to chew them. They are made from an incredibly sturdy rubber-like material and they look pretty tough to me. The manufacturer does warn not to leave the toys with a dog that continues to chew the toy after the treats have gone. Always better to be safe than sorry I think!
I love the flexibility of Busy Buddy Linkables. I like the fact that they can be used either individually or as a set to increase the difficulty level. But what I like most is the thorough metal workout that they give Monty. The look of concentration on his face when he’s playing with them is priceless. They’re also nice and easy to clean and believe me, after a couple of hours with Monty they need cleaned! Highly recommended!
